We have the first named storm of the Atlantic season and, as expected, it is predicted to move into the oil-polluted Gulf of Mexico.
Some good news this morning, though: The trend of the forecasts keeps bending Alex to the left, toward Mexico and Texas and generally away from the oil leak (and Florida).
By the way, at this stage of the game, with a storm very far away, that is what you always want to look at -- the trend of the forecasts rather than any specific forecast. Watching the trend of several recent forecasts - left, right, toward you or away from you - gives you the best sense of what is likely to happen.
